Description
This Bizen ware flower vase takes the form of a "ship insect" shape, a distinctive sculptural style seen in decorative objects from the Meiji to early Showa period.
The piece embodies both artistic intention and functional form, created not only as a vessel but as a presence within a space.
Overall, it features strong horizontal ridges known as "danbushi," with undulating ear-like forms on both sides. This style is commonly seen in highly decorative Bizen works from the Meiji to early Showa period.
The surface displays a deep brown tone close to the characteristic "shiso color" of Bizen ware, indicating a well-fired, high-iron clay body. The texture of the clay reveals the natural beauty of unglazed firing.
The square impressed mark on the lower side, bearing the name of a "seitosho" (ceramic workshop), is a feature commonly found in Bizen ware from the Meiji to early Showa period. Unlike individual signatures or kiln marks of the Edo period, this reflects a shift toward industrial production in modern Japan.
The inscription combines the place name "Bizen" with "Mori," one of the traditional six prominent families, indicating production by an organization rooted in the authentic Imbe lineage.
At that time, such workshops operated through skilled artisans working collaboratively or in a structured system. The clay body, rich in iron content, has been fired to a dense and durable finish, demonstrating the high quality and strength of the craftsmanship.


この備前焼の花入は、「船虫型」と呼ばれる独特の造形を持ち、明治から昭和初期にかけての装飾性の高い調度品として作られたものです。
全体的に力強い「段節（だんぶし）」が入り、両サイドに波打つような「耳」が施されています。これは明治〜昭和初期の備前焼において、意匠性の高い調度品として作られたものによく見られるスタイルです。
備前焼特有の「紫蘇色（しそいろ）」に近い深い褐色が出ており、しっかりと焼き締まっていることが分かります。
花入側面下部にある「製陶所」という組織名を冠した四角い角印（袋印に近い形式）は、明治時代から昭和初期にかけての備前焼に多く見られる特徴です。江戸時代までの個人銘や窯印とは異なり、近代化の中で「産業としての備前焼」を意識して押されたものです。
「備前」という地名と、六姓の名門である「森」の名を並べて刻んでいることから、伊部の正統な流れを汲む組織による制作であることが分かります。
当時の製陶所では、熟練の職人たちが分業、あるいは組織的に制作を行っていました。
土肌の質感も、備前特有の鉄分を多く含んだ焼締めの色がよく出ており、堅牢で質の高い仕事がうかがえます。
